Disagreement Without Division

Disagreement without Division
Pastor Ben Diaz
This Sunday, Pastor Ben shared a powerful message about staying united, even when we don’t see each other eye-to-eye. He reminded us that disagreements are natural, but they shouldn’t cause division or splits within the body of Christ. The enemy's goal is to cause division, so we must constantly be on guard to counter his attacks and keep our love on. Just like in our families, we don’t kick someone out because they disagree with us—unity is something worth fighting for, and it reflects heaven’s culture.
Pastor also stressed that the church should speak up on important governmental issues, but always from a place rooted in God’s Word and coming from a heart of love. And we must vote! The idea of separation of church and state wasn’t about silencing the church but making sure that the government didn’t interfere with the church. Even when opinions differ, he says the goal isn’t always to agree on everything but to show love and understanding, as that’s where real influence comes from.
Scriptures like 1 Corinthians 13:5-7 and Matthew 5:44 remind us that love is the key to handling disagreement. Rather than getting offended or angry, we must "fight darkness with light." We shine God's light into challenging situations by responding with kindness, patience, and love.
King Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding to rule the people. The better we understand somebody, the better we can pray, counsel, lead them, and influence their heart. The first two goals are showing love and seeking to understand. But the ultimate and most powerful goal is to reach an agreement. Matthew 18:19 says, “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.”
Finding agreement rooted in the Word is something to treasure and stand on in faith. Agreement brings a powerful connection, which is the key to seeing breakthroughs and miracles.
At the heart of the sermon, Pastor Ben called us to maintain love and connection with others, even when we disagree. We don’t have to compromise our beliefs or force our views on others, but we can still be kind, respectful, and intentional about building unity. That’s how we reflect Christ’s love and keep the body of Christ strong, even in the midst of differences.
